Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 May 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains what data the HomeHelperAI iOS app
and the website at homehelperai.app ("the Service") collect, how
we use it, and what control you have over it. We try to keep this short and
plain-language. If anything is unclear, contact us using the address at the
bottom of this page.
Who we are
The Service is operated by the team behind HomeHelperAI ("we", "us"). We are based outside the EU and our backend infrastructure is hosted in the United States.
What we collect
- Anonymous device identifier. We sign you in anonymously via Firebase Authentication. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number, and we cannot identify you personally from this identifier.
- Home information you provide. ZIP code, year built, heating type, dwelling type, and features you check during onboarding. This is stored on your device and used to tailor the maintenance plan.
- Photos you take in the app. When you scan an appliance, ask "Snap a problem", or extract a nameplate, the photo is sent to our server, forwarded to Google Gemini for analysis, and then discarded. We do not keep the images.
- Maintenance prompts and AI responses. The text we send to Gemini and the text Gemini returns are logged on our server (without the photo) so we can improve the catalog of supported appliances and debug failures. These logs are tied to the anonymous device identifier, not to you personally.
- Product analytics and crash reports. We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to count how often features are used and to see when the app crashes. We never include the contents of your home data in these events.
- Advertising identifier (IDFA). If you allow tracking in the system prompt shown after onboarding, we may use your IDFA in the future to measure ad effectiveness. We currently don't run any advertising and don't share the IDFA with third parties. If you decline, nothing in the app changes.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information.
- We don't show advertising inside the app.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't use your photos to train AI models.
Who we share data with
- Google (Firebase + Gemini). Firebase handles anonymous sign-in, analytics, and crash reports. Photos and prompts you submit are sent to Google Gemini for analysis under Google's standard developer terms.
- Render. Our backend runs on Render. Photos transit through their servers during analysis but are not retained.
- Amazon. When you tap a "Buy on Amazon" link, you leave the app and Amazon receives a referral with our affiliate tag. Amazon's own privacy policy then applies.
- We will disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
How long we keep data
Maintenance plan, inventory, and home profile live on your device until you delete them. The "Reset all data" action in Settings wipes them immediately. Server-side request logs are kept for up to 90 days for debugging and quality, then deleted.
Your rights
You can delete every piece of data we have about you at any time:
- In the app: Settings → "Reset all data" wipes your local profile and cancels every pending reminder.
- Server-side: email the address at the bottom and we will delete every record associated with your anonymous identifier within 30 days.
Children
The Service is intended for adults (homeowners and renters managing their own household). It isn't designed for children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where feasible, surface a notice in the app on next launch.
